On Hope

Toward the end of the year many of us slow down, contemplate, look back on what the year has brought and - maybe - secretly hope for certain wishes or dreams to come true in the year to follow…
But are we allowed to hope? Is hope valuable in its own right?
Or do we deny it to ourselves because it might be viewed as something ‚weak‘, something ‚passive‘?
Or is it rather that we are afraid of the pain that might set in when what we have hoped for does not materialise?
But would it be right to conclude that we should therefore no longer hope?
May hope receive the same value and recognition as self-determination, personal accountability or willingness to act? Not in their stead, but as an equal partner on eye-level?
May hope be something „active“?
An active force that reveals its grace and beauty only in a state of calm „allowance“…?
By allowing ourselves to feel the pain that might follow…?
May we dare to hope…?
I dare say YES!
