On Knowledge

Reading Carl Jung‘s autobiography - Memories, Dreams, Reflections - I stumbled upon a line which left me sighing, humbled by the truth it speaks:
„Knowledge does not enrich us; it removes us more and more from the mythic world in which we were once at home by right of birth.“ (Carl Jung)
We live in an age where information flows through our eyes, ears, minds and mouths. Constantly. In an endless stream. Overwhelming us with knowledge, sparking our intellectual discourses, debates, conversations, or even... wars.
But what is left of our connection to our deeper Selves, to each other, and the world as a whole?
Where is the invisible thread that unites our hearts and souls?
Where is kindness, compassion, understanding, love?
We sit, side by side, marveling at the golden crown of the setting sun - yet forget that this ‚mythic world‘ is what humbles and connects us all...
I fear the endless stream of information available to us might come at a great cost: distracting us from our most vital gift - our innate capacity to truly see one another. For only by seeing with both our eyes AND our hearts, recognizing our shared humanity, can knowledge transform into wisdom...
This, at least, is my truth...
